CHAPTER TEN

THE SEVENTH DAY, REST 

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work, which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work, which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Do you remember the days when men looked up into space and began to dream about traveling to the moon? What about the idea of traveling in a motorized vehicle from one place to the next? Do you recall the dreamers of yesterday that envisioned a place beyond their own and saw with the eye of the Spirit a New Land waiting to be conquered? How about communication? Do you remember the days when people would have to travel by mule, or horse or perhaps by wagon or foot to get where they needed to go just to send a message to someone about some particular event? All we need to do is look back about a hundred years and we will find that all these thoughts, ideas and dreams were beginning to surge in the minds of men who just knew there had to be a better way.

Many new inventions were hitting the public market as men began to discover Electricity, built cars, flew airplanes, made telephone calls and even made their journey to the moon. Today we are living in the greatest technological advanced age than ever before. In the last one hundred years an exponential thrust of new ideas and thoughts were turned into active energy as men and women began to change their ideas into realities. The result has been everything that you and I can imagine and beyond. Some of us still cannot understand how radio waves or television waves move through the air and become pictures on a screen or voices on a radio! We are amazed at the speed in which we can travel and how fast, even by the click of a button, get our messages to where they need to be without delay. Let’s face it, the last one hundred years has exploded with new technology that has brought the planet to another dimension.

The world is a much smaller place and more easily accessed by anyone who would like to travel it or learn about it. The information super high way has paved a way for knowledge to increase so that anyone who has even a hint of desire to know can now learn everything they so desire. Quite frankly I am amazed at the rate of speed in which everything is going and even more so at the development of all these incredible technological forces that have advanced themselves into our society worldwide. It is written in the book of Daniel, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Here we see that God had prophetically spoken and revealed to Daniel a sign for the last days.

The sign of course is the INCREASE OF KNOWLEDGE. This is the ability or skill to develop that, which had been hidden since the earliest days. Mans skill and wisdom has certainly increased over the past one hundred years! Is it possible that you and I are right now involved in the greatest outpouring of the revelation of the Spirit of God in the knowledge of the Son of God? You see, in the natural world we have seen an exponential increase of knowledge, yet in the Spirit we are told there is going to come an exponential increase of the knowledge of the Son of God and of the Glory of God! Consider these few verses;

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.(Ephesians 1:17, 3:4, 3:18,19)

You see, there is a revelation explosion about to hit the world in which we live and this explosion is going to fulfill the Prophets Exhortation; “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” As mankind has stood in awe and has basically enjoyed the advancements in technology he has not seen anything yet! Listen to the Apostles exhortation; “But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.” The Apostle Paul declares; “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

What new knowledge might be on the horizon of this brand new day? If the Lord saw fit to enable man to grasp and understand natural principles and concepts that would advance him into a whole new era of exciteful living, what do you suppose he is about to do in an age that has long awaited the new knowledge, the knowledge of the spiritual, the knowledge of the Kingdom? You see, I believe there is coming to this generation an opening of doors into spiritual realities that are going to change the face of the earth.

You may be asking at this time, ‘what does this have to do with the SEVENTH DAY and REST?’ Allow me to explain; there was time when God worked for Six days creating and making all things according to the desire of His will. When he had FINISHED making and creating these things he saw that His work was VERY GOOD. According to the Scripture, God then RESTED from His work. He came to a place where he ceased to do anymore.
